Bolos is the Malaysian version of a popular Japanese gameshow. Amin thinks the Japanese one is still the best, especially this one
I’m sure many of you who have Astro at home would’ve seen the teaser ads of two upcoming shows in Astro Ria (Ch 104).
One aired I think about a week back. The show’s called “Jangan Lupa Lirik”. I caught it last night, pretty good concept, quite entertaining to watch as well.
Today at 1800hrs, Astro Ria will air another new show. This one’s also a game show and its called “Bolos”. I saw the ad (not teaser) about the show last night. It showed snippets of the actual game show and I can’t help but think that I’ve seen it all before.
Did a quick search in YouTube and what do you know, I was right.
The new game show that will be airing today at 1800hrs in Astro Ria is exactly the same as a very popular game show in Japan. The show is called “Tunnels no Minasan no Okage Deshit” in Japanese. I don’t know what it means in English though everybody is comfortable to just refer to it simply as “Human Tetris“.
The object of the game is to contort your body to fit in irregular cut outs on a polystyrene wall that’s moving towards you. It makes for very entertaining TV. Interesting to see how the local version compares.
Oh, and there’s an Aussie version as well.
And also, the “Jangan Lupa Lirik” is also a local version of a popular international game show. The original one is known as “Don’t Forget the Lyrics”
Now that local TVs have started to import international game shows especially from Japan, I wonder if anyone will bring in “Takeshi’s Castle“.
Or perhaps TV producers should consider bringing in more educational game shows that focus on knowledge rather than pure entertainment. You know, game shows like “The Weakest Link” and “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader”. I personally find these kinds of shows more entertaining.
Here’s hopping.
UPDATE: I caught the re-run version of “Bolos” late last night and wasn’t impressed. Not near as funny to watch as the Japanese version. In the Malaysian version, the contestants were boring, the guest artistes were boring and so was the host. The props were crap too and the puzzle is kind of try hard.
No wonder the audience looked bored.

uiiiiyoooooo!!
ada orang sokong malay punya program… hikhikhik
dulu bukan main kutuk lagi, espcially kalau derang tiru dari negara lain.
chia yok!
poyo arr……..
Look at yourself in the mirror and tell me how you are the same now compared to before.
I know who I am inside.
In any case, I’ve grown up there’s so many things to like and love in this world why bother limiting myself. Cerita Melayu, India, Cina whatever…it doesn’t matter, soak it all in and become a more rounded person.
whatever helps you sleep at night bruddah
i watch almost everything. apa yang tak best mmg kena kritik la kan.
I sleep well at night. You’re the insomniac – wondering who you want to be tomorrow.

[Amin says] Selalunya, peluang terbaik is to talk to the production company handling the production. But in this case I’m not sure who is the production company. Maybe you can look at the credits at the end of the show to see who. I hope this helps.
They should make Human Tetris into a real video game — NES original
